Impact of Changing an Assignment Status

Use this page to learn what happens to the due date and pacing when changing the status of the assignment.

Assigned Graded
  • The Update Score page appears for the educator to enter a grade and save it. 
  • The Date field is changed to the date the assignment was graded by the teacher. 
  • After a refresh, the system automatically recalculates the student's unit and course score and progress percentage.

Assigned Not Started
  • If no attempts have occurred, the status now shows as Not Started
  • If attempts have occurred, the status cannot be changed to Not Started.
The original Due Date does not change. None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Assigned Skipped
    • The assignment does not have to be completed by the student and is not factored into any scoring calculation for the unit.

If the course is not Flex-enabled (or Flex Skipped), the student may have to answer questions on quizzes and tests for a skipped assignment.

The original Due Date is removed from the assignment and cannot be recovered. None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Graded Assigned
  • The grade is removed. 
  • The student must complete the assignment again. 
  • After a refresh, the system automatically recalculates the student's unit and course score and progress percentage.
The original Due Date does not change.  None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Graded Not Started
  • The grade is removed. 
  • If not completed by the original due date, there is no penalty and no loss of access.
  • The Attempts count remains. 
  • After a refresh, the system automatically recalculates the student's unit and course score and progress percentage. 
The original Due Date does not change.  None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Graded Skipped
  • The grade is removed. 
  • The Attempts count remains. 
  • After a refresh, the system automatically recalculates the student's unit and course score and progress percentage. 
The Due Date is removed. None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Not Started Assigned
  • The assignment appears in the student's Assignments list so the student can work on it. 
The Due Date does not change.  None. No rescheduling of remaining assignments occurs. 
Not Started Graded
  • The Update Score page appears for you to enter a grade and save it. 
  • The Date is changed to the date the assignment was graded by the teacher.

  • The assignment must be worked on by the student because it now appears in the student's Courses list. When the previous assignment is completed by the student, the status will automatically change to Assigned
